2nd International Advisory Board

1000 561 Dual Apprenticeship

2nd International Advisory Board

The Second International Advisory Board was held via Zoom on the 17th June 2021. In addition to the International Project Teams, in attendance were Professor Erica Smith (Federation University, Australia), David Coyne (Skills Development Scotland) and Dr. Margarita Langthaler (ÖFSE – the Austrian Foundation for Development Research).

The meeting started with an overview of the recent advances of the project, with an emphasis on the impact of COVID-19 on the fieldwork conducted in India and Mexico.
Following this, the meeting focused on the findings of Work Package 3, concerned with the policy enactment and implementation of Dual Apprenticeships. Two research reports were presented – one focusing on the Mexican case, the other on the Indian case. Both reports were oriented at comparing the rationales and aspirations of students choosing to enrol in a dual program, with their aspirations and situation once they graduate (Mexico) on in the last stages of the program (India).

On the basis of these findings, IAB members were also invited to give their comments on the following questions:

– How do these findings align/resonate with your own experience/knowledge of other contexts?
– What are for you the main implications of these findings for policy design and implementation?
– What organizations/institutions do you know that would be interested in these findings and how you could help us to engage with them?
