800 600 Dual Apprenticeship

Researchers conduct fieldwork with firms in the State of Mexico.

In this week José Antonio Cervantes (Tecnológico de Monterrey) and Ellen Vanderhoven (University of Glasgow) interviewed managers and instructors in firms across the State of Mexico that currently host dual apprentices. Ranging from large multi-national corporations to small local businesses, the firms offer a wide variety of contexts in which students can pursue the Modelo Mexicano de Formation Dual (MMFD). Firm representatives were asked about their selection processes, the learning experience of apprentices, and students’ transitions into the world of work and further education. Interviews with firms will conclude this week, after which the team will begin fieldwork with apprentices themselves, both in the State of Mexico and the northern state of Coahuila.
